UPDATE: Awin API ProductserveV3 Compatible
This site is composed entirely with WordPress and the Affiliate Window Productserve Service wordpress plugin, phew, thats a long name, The Awin WP Plugin, thats better.
This will give you a self-updating website without ever having to touch databases, datafeeds, xml, api, csv, the list goes on.
Forget data, this plugin will do the lot, look at the list of requirements below, see if you fit the bill, and if so, then go ahead and buy it, it will change the way you do affiliate marketing forever.
With access to over 4,000,000 products from the affiliatewindow network, you can build small, tightly focussed sites, or, huge, multi-categoried sites, its up to you.
This plugin costs £23 and thats for the actual plugin plus a lifetime of upgrades.
What you need
An affiliatewindow account – if you don’t have one, click hereAffilliateWindow (opens in new window) to set one up, there is a one-off payment of £5 which is refunded with your first commission.
You need a productserve API password, available from affiliatewindow. (please make sure you have one of these before purchasing the plugin its found in your awin affiliate area, and its the V3 MD5 Hash password, if you don’t see it under your account passwords, then you don’t have one, and you won’t be able to use this plugin, however, the free version doesn’t require this)
You need a wordpress blog preferably 2.8+
You Can buy the plugin here if you have all you need.

Currently the plugin is at Version 3.0 and the functionality of it is as follows:
NEW
Changes in this version 2.0
There is a new voucher code addition to the plugin!!!
To use it, just add sc=”y” cp=”b” to your shortcodes sc = showcodes (y=yes, to prevent showing codes, just don’t add the sc=”y”) cp= codes position (t for top, b for bottom, and the really exciting part s for sidebar.)
There’s also a sidebar widget included as well, which will show any discount codes available for the merchants featured on your product pages. (check out the sidebar at the right >>>)
You will of course need to visit your admin panel, go to appearance/widgets and either click to add the Awin Vouchers widget to your sidebar, or if you’re using WP 2.8, then just drag it over to where you want it.
There’s no need to include a + sign in your query any more, just write it as you would normally type it.
A new feature:
If you want to see what products a merchant has, then write a shortcode like this [ awin merchid="1234" no="100" sort="lo"] and you’ll get the first 100 products from that merchant sorted by price ascending. You can then use the awstart=”101″ in another shortcode to show the next 100 and so on.
NEW
An error checking system that will return a list of hotpicks from awin should your original products no longer be available, as well as sending an email to you to alert you of this fact.
A new shortcode to show an individual product with or without the merchants details (an example) the shortcode is this [ ap prodid="40730507" sdtl="y"].
Add a site-wide clickref to the admin panel, so you know where your sales are coming from.
Installation: NEW Admin Panel
Unzip the file which you receive after payment and,
Upload the entire affiliatewindow folder to your plugins directory /wp-content/plugins
Go to your admin dashboard and activate the Affiliate Window ProductServe Service plugin.
Look in your settings for Awin WP Plugin and input your api password and your affiliate id, the default size for images, the default number of products per page, and separately, for the homepage, default category id (for sites built in a vertical) and save.
(NEW FOR 1.5.6 define number of columns on the homepage, define length of text visible on the homepage)

WP Plugin 1.4.2
After installation, the following applies:
In your posts or pages, include the following wherever you want to display products
awin id=”139″ query=”adidas” no=”20″ sort=”hi” merchid=”1857″ awstart=”1″ price=”40_60″
a) id is the awin category id, a list of which are in the Categories datafeed found here:
http://www.panfashion.co.uk/05/list-of-affiliate-window-categories-and-ids/
b) query is self explanatory and should have no whitespace, use a + instead of a space.
c) no is the number of products you want to return
d) sort is also self explanatory, here are the possible sort options.
Sort variables:
az – Alphabetical increasing
za – Alphabetical decreasing
hi – By price, decreasing
lo – By price, increasing
popularity – By popularity, decreasing
relevancy – More relevant products to the specified query will appear first
e) merchid is the specific merchant id
f) awstart is the number that you want your results to start from (eg, you could have two pages for the kona shred bike,
awin id=”0″ query=”kona+shred” no=”10″ sort=”hi” awstart=”1″
on one page, then
awin id=”0″ query=”kona+shred” no=”10″ sort=”hi” awstart=”11″
on the next page.
g) price is a range, eg. between £50 and £100 is written like this 50_100
h) isize is the height and width of the image that you require, it defaults to 200 X 200 pixels
The only required variable is query, the others default to:
id = 0
no = 10
sort = popularity
merchid = none
awstart = 1
price = 0_100000
merchid = 0 (all merchants)
isize=200×200
The anatomy of the query.
You can use anything in the query box like so:
Every query must begin with
awin and end with
Eg1.
awin query=”platinum+wedding+ring”
this will show you 10 products (the default) with the keywords platinum wedding ring from all categories (again, the default) sorted by relevancy (default)
You can add as many parameters to the query as you like:
Eg2.
awin query=”platinum+wedding+ring” sort=”hi”
this will show you 10 products (the default) with the keywords platinum wedding ring and will sort by price high to low
Eg3.
awin query=”platinum+wedding+ring” sort=”hi” no=”25″
this will sort by price hi to low and return 25 products (assuming there are 25 products)
Eg4.
awin query=”platinum+wedding+ring” sort=”hi” no=”25″ merchid=”2174″
as above but limited to merchant id 2174 (goldsmiths)
Eg5.
awin query=”platinum+wedding+ring” no=”25″ id=”540″ merchid=”2174″ sort=”lo”
as above but with the category id added and a different sort option, in this case price low to high

Hi, I’m not supporting the free version any more, so if there are issues, you’ll have to deal with them. Best wishes

Oh, and this has what to do with the Awin Plugin?
#4 by Julian at May 25th, 2010
Hello there,
I think the Awin plugin is awesome, really powerful, elegant and simple to use.
I’m hoping you may be able to help me with a question so I’m getting the most out of it. I have a site selling women’s swimwear. When I punch in the code to pull up ‘tankini’ from merchants at Affiliate window I get a rather low product result, Perhaps around 25 products. However if I search for ‘Tankini’ using AW’s content widget I get many more relevant products. Why is this? Are the merchants somehow listing items incorrectly or am I missing something. Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Julian, it may be that in your Awin Productserve API admin area (on the awin site) you have ‘Include Adult Content?’ set to No (this is only appropriate if you are using V2) The V3 plugin is set to include adult content by default.
I’ve just created this page LINK to see if there is another issue, and it appears not
#6 by Julian at May 26th, 2010
That’s great! I see from your link that is should work. I am however having trouble locating the Awin Productserve API admin area (on the awin site). I’m sure i’ve seen this somewhere but can’t fin it now. Any pointers?
Thanks,

If you’re signed in to awin Julian, then follow this link Awin. I should say that in the query I used, I didn’t include any category ID, so, the query looks like this [awin query="tankini" no="100" sort="hi" sc="y" cp="t"]

Thanks for your support but still no luck. I tried your link and I came to the ‘V3 enterprise-info’ page. No where can I see ‘include adult content’ option but I am sure I have seen this somewhere before. I have v3 community edition access but I can see my shopwindow v3 is ‘in test mode’ and my quota level is restricted until I am ‘ready to go live’.
Is that the problem?
I tried using your exact code but still got less products and a smaller variety than the test you did for me.
#9 by admin at May 26th, 2010
Hmm, if you were out of quota, then you would get no products returned, so, we can discount that.
I think I’ve just spotted the problem, the version that you have doesn’t have Adult products set to On, if you email me the affiliatewindow.php file, then I will make the amendments and send it back to you.

Awin, I presume is only good in the UK?
I am, of course in the USA.
Do you know if there is a similar program available here?
Thank you for your help.
Michael

Hi Michael, I’m afraid that apart from the Linkshare plugin (which you have) I don’t have any other US-facing software. I am currently working on a global eBay plugin, but, these are freely available elsewhere.

Tony

Hi im just bought the plugin and tried to make it work but im not still fully understand how to get all the products from AW to my site. I wanted to add all electronics mercahnts products to my site but i dont know how. I inserted the code in the Readme file
[awin id="4" query="electronics" no="20" sort="hi" merchid="1107" awstart="1" price="40_60"]
But i keep getting 5-10 prodiucts but there lighting products. is there a video on how to do this?
#15 by admin at July 8th, 2010
Hi, the results you are seeing are the default results for when there is no match for your queryset. Laptops Direct don’t have anything that can be found using the query “electronics” in the Electronics category (4) so the price range is also redundant in this case, try this shortcode and then see what there is on that page that you’d like to target and adjust the query for the brand or whatever you want.
[awin query="" no="100" sort="hi" merchid="1107" ]
This one will give you all Vaio products from Laptops Direct sorted by price high to low [awin query="VAIO" no="100" sort="hi" merchid="1107" ]
Sorry, no video

I am trying to return the cheapest product, given a specific query – and hitting issues. If I try:
[awin query="NIKON D5000" no="2" sort="lo"]
It returns a products – however if I then try:
[awin query="NIKON D5000" no="1" sort="lo"] – hoping for the lowest priced priced NIKON D5000 I get nothing returned, only the random listing of products.
Any ideas?
#17 by admin at July 29th, 2010
Unfortunately, the way the plugin is written, it requires more than one product, so, that’s the reason you are seeing the default products.
The other way to do it is to find the product ID and use the single product shortcode.
